• No charging or insufficient charging: the most typical fault. It is manifested as battery power loss, difficulty in starting, and alarm of the battery light on the dashboard. The reasons include: too loose or broken belt, line/fuse failure, brush/slip ring wear (about 40%), rectifier diode breakdown (about 25-29%), voltage regulator failure.
• Strange noise and vibration: There is metal friction, high-frequency vibration or "buzzing" sound during operation. Most of them are bearing wear (accounting for about 38% of mechanical failure) or pulley failure
• Abnormal voltage (excess too high or fluctuating): may burn the light bulb or cause ECU to report an error. It is usually caused by the failure of the voltage regulator, or it may be caused by battery aging.
• Overheating of the generator: the temperature of the shell is abnormally high. It may be caused by bearing damage, winding short circuit or poor heat dissipation (such as excessive surface oil)
